Cabrera is in the North of the island of the Dominican Republic. Close to the Grande Cordillera, the centre very rarely experiences cyclones

Geography

All the construction works have been carried out in harmony with nature and in keeping with the local surroundings, using eco friendly solutions wherever they were possible

Sadly many children are encouraged to drop out of school because their families want them to help bring incomes into the household , our showing a brighter future in education may help to combat this attitude.

Local laws prevent children under the age of 14 going to work, unfortunately this law is not enforced so young children are often seen working.

The Board of the Foundation has its annual accounts audited by an approved audit firm.

Accounts

The entire Board of the Foundation goes to Cabrera once a year, entirely at their own expense, to check the smooth operation and proper functioning of the Centre.

Operating and administrative costs are kept to a minimum so as not to exceed 5% of the donations received.

The school employs 30 members of staff to ensure it functions properly and this in turn provides a good salary for their families to live more comfortably.

The strict control of the Centre provides an operating cost of 6 CHF

(5 €) per child.
